New term, new drama

At DWS Audio we’re looking forward to uploading some new drama content over the coming months. Our fabulous students have been busy working on two new drama serials. The first of these is ENQUIRY AGENTS, a detective drama set in late-1960s Brighton (listen to the trailer below). The second, STARGAZERS, is a science-fiction serial that enters production next month. Further details and release dates to follow.

Six Years of DWS Audio

It’s incredible to think that our audio blog is now six years old! The students have created so much fabulous content over the years and won several awards along the way. Having our work regularly feature on BBC Radio Kent and BBC Sounds has also been a thrill.

As we look forward to our seventh year we have more exciting content planned. Look out for two brand new drama serials featuring members of our Blackbox Theatre Company. We’re also planning to record an ‘as live’ radio play just like they used to do in the old days!

Happy listening in 2024!

The Wizard of Oz – Sneak Peek

The Best of DWS Audio

DWS Audio has entered this year’s Young Audio Awards in the ‘Station of the Year’ category. To enter, each school is required to send a 15-minute show-reel of their best bits. Below is a show-reel of our very own highlights from the last year! A big thank you to all of our students for their contribution to our audio blog.

The Transmission

This weekend (January 28-29th) Darrick Wood School will be one of six UK schools and universities participating in ‘The Transmission’ Festival being held in Tirana, Albania. Supported by funding from the EU over thirty schools and universities across Europe have been recording one of six plays written by a professional playwright.

DWS Audio chose to record a play entitled ‘My Mother is a Murderer’. It will be available to listen to here shortly.
